Fighting Early School Dropout of Children
The fight against child school dropout in Madagascar remains an ongoing battle. Several factors contribute to this troubling phenomenon, with poverty being a central issue.
With over 24 million people living on less than a dollar a day and a poverty rate approaching 80%, many families are forced to withdraw their children from school after primary school.
Despite the progress made with over 90% of children enrolled in primary school, higher tuition fees at the secondary and high school levels often become unaffordable for the poorest families. Consequently, it is not uncommon to see siblings where some children are forced to abandon their studies, thus perpetuating the cycle of poverty.
Education is a strong pillar, a beacon of hope in the fight against poverty. Eliezer is committed to preventing school dropout to enable children to build a better future.
By giving each child the opportunity to access education, we break the cycle of poverty. Each educated child is a chance for the country to prosper, thrive, and build a better future.
